Default real problems...

hey guys. before i say the problem, here's what i'm working with:
1985 jeep cj-7
steel 15gal. tank, stock sending unit modified w/ 1/2" pickup tube from top of tank.
5.3 vortec from 2004 avalanche, 4L60E transmission
stock fuel rails and regulator
wiring modified by lt1350.com, computer also flashed by them
aeromotive tsunami fuel pump (capable of 65psi)
8AN steel braided hose going through 100micron filter to pump inlet
6AN steel braided hose going from pump outlet to engine
4AN fuel return

when running, the pump is a little loud, but it keeps a pretty steady pressure of 45-55psi. after driving for sometime, you can hear the pump losing its prime. it will eventually run out of gas. i can let it sit for 15 min, the pump will re-prime itself, and it will fire right up. i know it sounds like classic vapor lock, but i've done EVERYTHING to try and reduce heat, and it's still doing it. is it possible that the fuel pump pickup is losing suction?

Pump is getting hot and is not designed to pull fuel out the top of your tank you need a sump to pull fuel from the bottom and get the pump lower than the sump.

aeromotive said that the fuel pump location is fine, and as long as the pickup tube is large enough, there should be no problem with it.
