cutting hole for fuel pump access?
cutting hole for fuel pump access? I just have a couple quick questions guys about cutting the hole in 99+ models for the fuel pump access. How far below the area that you cut are the lines? I want to do a new fuel pump and I am going to go with the access hole method and I have a dremel but I don't want to cut my lines by accident. How much space are we working with or is it recommended to drop the tank a little bit when cutting the access panel? Thanks in advance.
Well based on other peoples pictures you can tell where the wires are and where the lines are. In the areas where I new there was no lines or wires I used my cut off wheel hooked to my compressor but for the areas above the wires and lines I used my dremel and went very slowly. It worked very well and I had no issues. Thats what I would do. Good Luck!
loosen the two straps on the tank and it will drop several inches. then you have nothign to worry about. i used this method and a sawz-all with a shorty blade. worked great and MUUUUCH faster than the dremel method (and no worries of cutting lines/wires)
