How do I test the pump to see if it's bad or not before yanking it?


When I turn the key over I can hear some noise in the back like it's turning
on, but the car wont start.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to validate if you are getting fuel or not? If you are getting fuel and the motor is turning over maybe you don't have any spark?

I dont have a guage - is there a way to check fuel pressure without having a permanent guage installed? As in a hand held meter of some kind??

You can take off the cap at front of the driver side fuel rail and push the schrader valve and see if you get fuel.

Also did you recently do something to the car or did it just not want to start all of a sudden?

I had a few signs that something was going bad - It sat for a couple days and when I went to start it it took more than just a couple cranks to fire up - then later that day it took awhile to start again. I went to drive it to work the next day and while taking off from a red light it died and hasnt started since.
