....more info on resized injectors
I lost compression in 2 cylinders a while back and tore it down. I broke a couple ring lands between the compression rings so I picked up some new pistons. While I had it apart I figured I may as well get a new cam, I have never been really satisfied with my choice so I called Geoff Skinner at Engine Power Systems www.engpwrsys.com. He has his own lobes that Comp makes for him so I wanted to try them. He set me up with a 234/246 .602/.606 114+3 cam.
I put it in, first thing I noticed was how much quieter it is, very nice. I started tuning and it tuned very easy. I did a couple of hard runs and my injector duty cycle went to 97% (39lb @ 58 psi). I called Jon a FIC fuelinjectorconnection.com and told him what I changed and he recommended that I send my injectors back and he will make them 42 @ 43.5 which is 48 @ 58. I put them in last night, reset the IFR and retuned.
I did a full driveablility tune first, not just WOT. I tuned in OLSD first to get the VE table and timing tuned in up to about 5000 rpms and then tuned in MAF only. I switch it all back on and it ran great. The STFT corrections for idle to 1600 are at 1-3 and above that it is in the 0-2 range.
These work great, AFR @ WOT 12.8, duty cycle 75% at 6400 rpm shifts. Idles very good. 800 rpms.
I do have the injector data from Gregs DVD in my tables. The Bosch III is the same as the 24# FRPP skinny (280 155 931). All I changed was the IFR table. I tried the stock 2002 F car settings before and they worked too. I have not tested the F car data with the new injectors.
Great setup. I can't wait to get this thing back to the strip.
The moral of this long story, don't be afraid to buy or have your injectors resized. They work great and they will save you a bunch of money. I will get lit up about how these do not work right and all that but I also don't have a load bearing dyno so that's the way it goes.
