Default Fuel Pump Controller

Hey guys, I work a company that does electronics / harness work for the aftermarket. A few of the vendors here sell our products.

We are going to start working on a fuel pump controller. I would like to know what you guys would like to see. Right now we are thinking about two different designs. Both would take input from any 5 volt sensor(MAP, TPS, ext).

Idea 1 would have one pot to adjustable start voltage and another pot to adjust the point at which it goes to full voltage. There would be no ramp up at the full voltage set point it would just go to full voltage. example: you have your start voltage set at 9 volts. You have you have your full voltage set at 2.5v from from the MAP sensor. As soon as the controller sees an input from the MAP of 2.5v it goes to full voltage.

Idea 2 would ramp voltage up over a set range. It would have a adjustable voltage start pot, a pot for the point you like to start the voltage increase, and a pot for the point which you would like the voltage to go to full. example: you have your start voltage set to 9 volts. You have the controller set to start ramping the voltage at 2v from the MAP senser and to be at full voltage by 3.5v MAP input.

We are just looking for some input on what you guys would like to see in a nice pump controller starting from scratch with nothing taken from what is already on the market.

thanks

The ideal situation would be to ramp the output, giving an initial voltage & a peak voltage, plus the initial ramp point & point of full voltage. This would allow the pump to be ramped smoothly & only as much as neded.

That was my thought as well. I guess we were just wondering if there would be enough interest in the option 1 unit to bother making it or if we should just skip to the option 2 unit. Also just wondering if anyone had any thoughts/options they would like to see on the controller that maybe we haven't though of.

thanks

It seems that there are many guys running two pumps; why not provide controls for more than just one pump or offer this as an option?

I myself am using the Aeromotive Fuel Pump Speed Controller to control one A1000 pump and presently I’m stuck in a motel in Shamrock, TX waiting for Summit to overnight deliver another A1000 pump. The present A1000 crapped-out after less than 200 hours of running, I really don’t want another A1000 but it’s the quickest way to get running and back on the way home.

Meanwhile I’ve been drawing out my next fuel system and it includes two pumps so I never have to be towed to Shamrock, TX again LOL

Here's wishing you Good luck and much success with your new product.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. The reason I put the A1000 on my car was because I went through 2 255 external walbros in less than 1000 miles so I know how being stranded by a bad pump makes you feel. I thought the A1000 would be a reliability upgrade as well as give me over head for a future power adder. After getting the A1000 on the car I realized how much over kill it was for my 400rwhp set up. I looked around at what was on the market for a controller and wasn't happy with what I saw. I thought it might be a good market for a new product. I hope our controller can improve upon what is on the market and make these big pumps live long happy lives.

We have multi pump set ups in mind with this new controller. You will be able to use this controller to control switching the second pump on and off. You will also be able to control the speed of the second pump. We have the board lay out finished already. I'm hoping to have a demo on my car in a few weeks. If everything goes as planned on my car we will have some demos on a handful of other cars short after that.

We normally like to put as many miles as possible on a new product before releasing it to the public. I'm hoping if everything going well we will be selling the controller by spring.

JMitch19; your planned new pump controller sounds like a winner for most aftermarket pumps. Send me a PM with price and availability when you get close to delivery.

My setup includes a Made in USA 7.0 Lt. LSx, Magnacharger 2300 TVS plus other goodies all stuffed in a ’05 Silverado SCSB. This truck is not a Daily Driver but it is often driven on long hauls of 2, 3 and 5,000 mile trips.

I'll shoot you a pm when it is finished. We don't retail any of the parts we produce. We are a wholesaler. A handful of sponsors on this site retail our products. Once it's finished I'll let you know who is carrying it and you can pick a sponsor of your liking.

Thanks,

Jason
