need help with selecting external fuel pump Im doing a ls1 conversion in a 93 mustang coupe. Im going to use a drop in tank assembly that allows connection of a 10an supply and 6 an return line to the factory fuel tank. I have been looking for an external fuel pump to use but all the ones I have looked at are rated to 45 psi fuel pressure not 60 psi that I will need for the ls1. What are my options for a fuel pump that mounts out side the tank? IM also on some what of a budget so most economical choice would be great.
The ls1 doesn't "need" 60psi, you will just have to run a reasonable fuel pressure and set up the tune for it. Moreover, most pumps suited for EFI use are rated in flow rate at a certain pressure (could be 45psi) but will handle much higher pressures.
The pump you use will depend on the fuel requirements of the engine. An inline walbro 255 will probably be the cheapest that can feed typical ls1, but will only support about 450-500whp.

I am running a bosch 044 pump, but I modified it to be used in tank. It can move a little more fuel than a walbro, but it's also more expensive. I am looking at low 400s whp n/a and close to 600 on nitrous. The pump has been keeping up so far, but I would add a second pump or get a bigger one if I planned to make any more power.
There are Walbro high pressure kits to replace your factory pump intank. That will be plenty to feed your motor. Otherwise a Walbro inline will work fine. I can get either for you.
