Default Car sitting

Car has been sitting for about a year and a half. Has about 1/4 of a tank of gas, should I just siphon it out or should I just fill it up with octane booster? Thanks for the future replies.

I would start it & drive it (no crazy full throttle stuff) to use up some fuel... maybe down to 1/8 tank & then fill it up with good fuel. Nothing special is really required.

Thanks, I'll try that out when I get it on Friday after I change the oil and recharge the battery.

Not to thread high-jack...too much lol, but how about a car that's been sitting with a full tank of gas for 3 years? Engine blew right after filling up the tank and finally getting ready to get back together probably by next week.

To put things in perspective, I had my Formula Firebird sit for 11yrs with a full tank of gas. It started & ran fine, but smelled a little weird. Fuel looked orange. I drove it, but didn't beat on it. Actually other than smell I could not tell the difference, but this was not a high performance engine requiring high octane either.

Personally for the price of gas now a days, I would drain out as much as possible & dump a couple of gallons at a time in my daily driver & use it up.

Trying to break-in & diagnose a new motor on old fuel may not be wise.

For a daily driver, I would not worry.
