Default An Octane Question

Guys, I put about 4 1/2 gals of 87 in the tank in prep for an initial start-up. Being a creature of habit, I was using the red plastic lawnmower tank and automatically put the 87 in it. Later, I dumped a little over a gallon of 93 in there.

1)Other than using up what's already in the tank, is there a product which can be added to increase the octane of the existing 87?
2) I've never seen an engine take so long to warm up. Is it possible that the incorrect octane could cause this?
As a sidenote, the engine is running rough and the plugs already have some soot on them. There is a TR224 in there and the motor needs a tune.
Thanks.

Why not drive it a little & see if you hear it ping? Drive it easy & work on getting it running correctly. Then add another 5 gals of 93? That will give you approx 91 octane which should be fine for a stock compression LS motor.

I'm itching to drive it on the road. The snow has arrived and salt covers the road right now, so I'm restricted to driving it in the garage.
