98' Z28 won't start
Hey guys
I've been driving my 98' z28 with this security light on for about 2 months. Never gave me a problem until 2 weeks ago. I was driving to run errands, park it, got back in, try to start it up and it didn't. Tried to fire it up more than 10x's no start. Got it jumped, pumped gas in it. Still no start. Got it toll to a mechanic. He said it was the fuel pump, he said that it had 0psi. So i bought a new fuel pump, he installed it and checked the fuel pressure again it shot up to 40psi at first, so it still didn't fire up. A day later, he got it up to it's normal 55-60psi range but it still didn't crank at all. Checked the ingnition cylinder, he said it was bad. So i went to chevy bought a new ignition cylinder, got a new key with it. Brought it to him, he installed it and STILL didn't crank. The security light went away but still no crank. So i called murdock lock & key tech, he came and check it out, since we thought it was something dealing with the lock & key resistor...and guess what...he didn't figure it out either. He said that it's not dealing with the "VATS" and said it doesn't need a bypass either. He also checked all of the sensors but no answer smh. He told me that it may be a fuel pump relay problem or crank sensor but not sure. Mechanic doesn't have a clue either. I'm planning on taking it to chevy for a complete diagnostic. But if anyone has had a PROBLEM like mines, can u please help me out???
I'll appreciate the feed back, Dre

I was thinking about that, i'ma try that and check the crank sensor on it. Also giving it a diagnostic test and see what it reads. It's been 2 weeks with out my Z and i'm starting to lose it lol.
thanks for the reply man, hopefully everything turns out okay.

Hi,
gas/fire/compression equals starting if all things correct. Check the aforementioned and any inline fuses/key/etc. A voltmeter will help locate electrical issues. Have a blessed day and good luck. DO not get frustrated. Check most obvious first and eliminate until resolved..jim YOUR LOCAL GM DEALER CAN CHECK VATS/RESISTANCE FOR YOU.USUALLY REQUIRES PROOF OF OWNERSHIP???????????

So I brought to a specialist. He only deals with chevy. He checked if it was firing and it was, then checked fuel pressure and it's good, but found out my injectors weren't firing. He said is because my security is all jacked up, which he now have to re-program it. So hopefully he's right. I'll post the ending results, just in case anybody else experience this problem in the future.
Thanks for the replys guys
