Default External pump return setup. Check-valve before or after pump?

I have a magnafuel pump with all -10/-8 line and I noticed last year that id have to manually prime the pump for a little bit before it was up on pressure so ive decided to add a check valve to hold the pressure. Should I put the check valve before the pump or after the pump? I have a -10 to the pump and a -8 from the pump to the rails.

If it lost prime, it sounds like the fuel from the inlet was leaking back to the tank. Not sure why as air would have to enter the system to allow this to happen.

The pump should be mounted below the fuel level.... if not this is likely your problem.

I do not recommend any check valves before the pump as it can cause enough restriction to cause pump cavitation.

Well being that my car is a 350z..its a little different. I have the siphon entering the top of the tank ..goes across the back of the car then down to the pump which is well below the tank(but about 6ft of line from tank to pump) so I should put the check valve right after the pump?

Not sure that will help. You could try, but it may be a waste of time & money.

You need to get a fitting in the bottom of the tank.

Maybe ill just leave it alone. Last year it worked perfectly..just took a couple extra seconds to prime.
