Default brass w/ e85

Ok so i have a dual walbro setup and i have a brass tee fiting in my tank, i converted to e85 about 6 months ago ( cars been laid up for the past 4 months), and i was concerned if the e85 will have any ill affects on the brass...

I read alot of stuff via the internet which all seems to be myths about rubber lines and aluminum, etc.....but i havent found many sources on using brass fittings with e85, if any of u guys have long term experience with brass and e85 please let me know

Thanks

Here is an excerpt from the 'ORNL Ethanol Pipeline Corrosion Literature
Study Final Report' from May 2008, google it for the full report:
Compatibility Suggestions
Metals:
Avoid:
tin/lead coatings or plates (terne),
zinc or zinc alloys, cast-iron,
magnesium, lead, bare aluminum,
copper, pure brass, galvanic
contact between stainless steel and
Al6061 or Al319, galvanic contact
between cast iron and Al6061 or
Al319, and lead-based solder
Preferred:
pure tin, cadmium-brass, iron-cobalt alloy, carbon
steel, stainless steel, bronze, nickel plate, pre-painted
zinc-nickel, and cadmium plate
Notes
Fuel tank electrical connections may require sealed connections and the use of water
resistant grease.

My 2 cents; in many instances, brass may be 'OK' in E85, it depends on the other metals that it is in contact with in order for corrosion to occur.

Ya i figured it would be fine as well, considering where are u gonna get some sort of barb fitting to run dual walbros that isnt brass or aluminum..and i know theres plenty of people besides me that are running dual setups with e85, so im really looking foward for their replies on this topic

I bought my fitting from home depot and not sure if it is pure brass or cadmium brass, but im gonna go back there and check it out

I've never had a problem with brass connectors using E85.
I would not worry about the t-fitting.

Well now i feel really confident since lonnies is doing the same thing lol, thanks for the response, i really want to see where i stand with my current setup and e85, and then maybe go back to gasoline and run some meth, do u think meth along with 93oct is as safe to use as e85......i have a turboed 370 and dont wanna risk detonating or anything

The E85 will likely cover you with respect to octane, but you will not get the cooling effects of methanol. It pulls much more heat out of the airstream than ethanol. Personally I would tune with E85 & still keep the meth for some free cooling/HP.
