Default Aeromotive vs Walbro

Im in the process of piecing together my fuel system. I can get an A1000 pump for the same price as the two walbros. They are both can supply enough fuel to get to my power goal. Just cant decide...... which would yall chose?

do you want external or internal pump? I likeexternal myself since it's easier to change out etc. Cost is higher though, you'll need fittings and pre and post filter

The price doesn't really bother me, my friend is giving his used one to me for dirt cheap. My only issue would by the noise from the A1000 compared to the 255's

My old a1000 was very loud. I say do the walbros if they will suit your needs.

If i went with the A1000, can you keep the stock tank and just run a feed line from the tank to the pump?

I know I don't have an F-body but I switched from a Walbro 255 to an Aeromotive 340. The Walbro died even with a hotwire kit and no restrictions through a -6 line to a C5 regulator and up to the rails.

Now I can't comment if I made any more power or if that even the pump was bad, because I ended up changing the sending unit to one with attached AN fittings vs hose clamps, and also changed the way fuel was delivered to the rails.

However, the Aeromotive in tank is definately quieter than the old Walbro. It was more expensive but IMO it will be worth it.

Heard a good comment on running dual intake pumps vs one big pump. If your running dual pumps and one dies the engine will keep running and as soon as you hit boost you could lean out killing your motor. If one big pump dies your car wont run and you wont chance damaging your motor.

I guess that would be true if you are running both pumps in a dual pump setup full time.

i'm afraid it would be true even if you were running 1 off a hobbs switch as i will be doing. either way 1 pump doesn't come on as boost is climbing and could cause the lean out.

i'm still going with a dual pump setup only because i drive it on the street far more than the track and i HATED my screaming A1000 pump years ago.
