Default double pump/hobbs switch ?

I tried searching but never found a definitive answer.

It seems like most people are setting the hobbs switch at 1psi so the second pump activates with any boost pressure, but is a hobbs switch needed?

Is there any reason not to run both pump all the time?

Car is a 02 so it uses a return, what problems would arise from just running both pumps as if there was only 1

i use a hobbs switch on my fuel system setup...

reason NOT to run both pumps at the same time, because theres no need for added constant electrical load when its not needed.
with the 2 pumps running all the time, they will heat up the fuel, you dont want that.
and it will wear the pump out faster.

im sure other guys have other reasons as well...

Thanks ^, Would heating the fuel be as much of a concern w/ e85?

Anyone else have any opinions?

no reason to circulate 120 gph of gas when you only need 40 gph 70% of the time, not much of a concern with an all out race car.
