Default Racetroniix install question

I got my new racetronix pump installed in the tank of my '98, and got the new power cable run all the way to the battery. Racetronix sent a new battery cable stud that has a second bolt in it for just the fuel pump. But I can't get the old stud out of the battery cable. I don't want to trash it. So does anybody know how to do that right?

Thanks

I've done it many times to install the Gold Plated Type of piggyback stud for use in hooking up hi-power stereo equipment.

Basically you just have to use a small flat bladed screwdriver to pry the original stud out of the factory end from the front side of the connector. The end is flexible enough to allow the stud to be removed without damage to the connector end - just takes some time. And of course you also have to deal with the fact that there is a metal retaining clip molded into the back (battery) side of the connector that is supposed to retain the bolt while still allowing it to spin freely.

Actually it will be easier to remove the old stud than installing the new stud simply because of the way the connector end is designed.

Just be patient and go slow - It'll come out eventually with a little prying all around the inner diameter of the connector end.

I have never had a problem getting the battery nut out.

I simply push the backside of the stud against something solid while holding the outer edges of the red boot with my fingers which allows the outer edges to expand and the nut to pop out the front.
