Fuel Gauge.

Fuel Gauge. I will say this now, i am sorry if this is the wrong section.
My issue is my fuel gauge will report right till about 145-160miles from a full tank of gas then it will go back to full. but this is where im stumped. when ever i leave it in Park or Nutruel for about 5min or so it will report correctly. But after driving for about 5miles or so it goes back to either 3/4ths or full.
Can i get some input on this? im confused as hell. I thought itd be the sending unit, im still lost
