quick question about LS1 injectors

Default quick question about LS1 injectors

2002 LS1. Had 0280155931 injectors in it. I ordered a set of rebuilt injectors and 0280155715 showed up. All the info I can find says they flow the same and they are almost identical. However, the 931 has a slot in the body that a clip goes in to keep it against the rail that the 715 does not. The 715 is about 1/8" shorter than the distance between the intake cup and the fuel rail cup, so I can slide it up and down about 1/8" in the cups.

Can I run the 715, or do I need to return these and get a set of 931?

Are you running spacers on your fuel rail? If so take them out and make the fit a little more snug. If not then I would try to get some that have the clip slots. If you dont have those clips on there and the injectors are allowed to move then they could pop out when pressure is built up. you dont want that when you got a hot engine.

Here's the answer I got from the place I got the injectors from.......

Apparently the 931 injectors are becoming hard to find, which is why I got the 571. All the other similar / identical Bosch injectors for other vehicles don't use clips and the newer LS stuff doesn't either. Even though the distance from the intake to the rail is about 1/8" longer than the injector, he said it will never move up, and even if it does move up, it won't move enough for the o-ring to pop out of the cup. The engine is under vacuum and there is 58 PSI behind the injector, so it should be theoretically impossible for it to move up. None of the aftermarket rails use clips.

He said run them and if I have a problem, send him my stock ones and he will rebuild them and send them back and no problem returning the 571s if I put gas through them. I guess I'll fire it up tonight and see what happens.

Just for peace of mind, I will probably send the stock ones in, have them rebuilt, and swap them back in. GM put those clips there for a reason, obviously. But at least the ones they sent me will get it running today.
