Walbro E85 430 LPH F90000267 pump in 1997 Camaro

Walbro E85 430 LPH F90000267 pump in 1997 Camaro I'm currently driving a 1997 Camaro with a 2001 lM7/4l80E combo. The plan from the start was to go turbo, but I ran out of money last winter so I just drove it around this summer N/A.
My question is with wiring for the new pump. Can I just drill a small hole in the top of my metal bucket and run the power and ground wires for the pump directly to the wires on the outside and solder them together? I'll also run the small black ground wire for the fuel sender through the hole I drill and solder it to the pump ground. I'll keep the purple fuel sender wire running through the stock in tank connector. I added a photo of my stock bucket with my plans for wiring it.
Is there anything wrong with what I plan on doing for the wiring? I think its silly to buy the $10 4 way connector from racetronix when i'll have to modify the top of the bucket anyway to get that connector to fit.
Any input? My wiring plan is in the attached photo. I'm replacing my walbro 255 with the walbro 430.

Maybe I included to much info in the first post. I'm really just curious if my wires are going to the correct place on the new Walbro 430 pump.
Grey to red
Black to Black
Purple to Purple
Is that correct? Thanks for the help!

Should I post this in the LT1 section? I'm sure someone with a plastic tank has skipped the connector and wired directly to the pump. Isn't that what everyone does for the 2nd pump they throw in the tank?
