Default Using a -6an where a -6an orb is needed?

I want to use the 3/8" to 6an fitting to go directly from my stock fuel rail to the the aeromotive 13129 FPR. The FBR says to use -6a/n o-ring fittings. Will the 6a/n non o-ring fittings leak? Can you just add a o-ring to the -6a/n fitting? I haven't used an fitting before, so i'm not sure if that will work.

If that doesn't work I can add a -6an to -6an o-ring fitting and a -6an female to -6an female fitting. I just don't want to spend another $60 on fuel fittings if I don't have to.

Any help or input is appreciated!

You have to use the specified ORB fitting, or it will leak like mad.

Okay. Is it just because regular 6an doesn't have an o-ring or is it because the end is protruded? The thread looks the same minus the lack of o-ring and protruded end. Can you cut the end off and add an oring? Thanks!

The fitting is different on each end. The threads are the same on each end, IIRC. But the O-ring end threads are much closer to the hex portion, so you can tighten it down onto the O-ring. If you cut the end off of a standard fitting, you won't be able to tighten it down enough to effect the seal. And It might extend into the regulator too far.

Spend the few bux and get the right fitting for the job.
