E50 vs. E85
E50 vs. E85 Lets hear your thoughts, Timing curve changes, fuel consumption % etc. Ive been hearing that PTT can be achieved with E50 with minimal changes from an E85 tune. id like to hear from people that have actually ran both and can tell me the pros and cons.

I have no lsx comparison but in my cobalt we ran same timing and slowed the boost ramp just a bit with e50 and e85. Made same power but a little less torque. Fuel economy jumped up something like 5 mpg, was only 19 on E85. Then we did 110 oct with e85 to make e50 and made more power all around then the e85 did.

I don't have the paper anymore but there was one floating from MIT (I think) showing minimal improvement in performance characteristics from 50% to 85% (or 100ish%). Basically showed 90-95% of the benefits with less fuel load nessesity.
Well this certainly changes things.. a friend of mine was commenting on the added cooling benefits of E85 due to the volume of fluid in the cylinders. That kind of made sense to me.
