Ls6 Flooded Bad - Scared to start
I've been in the process of doing an ls swap in a 70 chevelle and finally today I finished everything and was ready to start it up. I turn the key to prime the fuel and turn it over and it sounds like it is turning over very rough. No start. Tried multiple times and nothing.
So I pushed the car back in the shop only to find a very large puddle in my drive way and a trail of drips as I pushed it in. It was all gas and it was leaking out of the header's collector on the drivers side!
Now I am afraid of trying to start it anymore because if there is that much gas in there, it doesn't sound like a good idea to add combustion to it.
I've read about the process of holding the gas pedal down while cranking to unflood it but I'm still uneasy about doing that in case it starts.
Any suggestions on how to clear out all that gas and how did this happen?
I have had it running once before for only a second with just open manifold on it, so I have spark with the key...
Any help would be appreciated thanks
Then tomorrow I'm changing the oil because I pulled the dipstick and it smelt like gas as well...
So I may have cleaned up the problem now but does anyone know what could be causing this? The injectors are brand new but it seems like that #1 injector is stuck open. I haven't pulled it yet to check tho
The easiest way to tell that is unhook suspect injector or all of them and cycle the key a few times. if fuel still sprays out the injector needs to be replaced.
If it only shoots fuel out with the injector plugged in it's a wiring/electrical/PCM issue that is keeping the injector open constantly.

Do a compression test and leak down test on the engine also; cranking it over with so much fuel may have bent a valve or bent a rod. I have done this in past with a similar problem, stuck open injector lead to set of bent valves.
