Default FiTech stand alone EFI systems

Has anybody heard of these? They seem pretty good and very nicely priced. I found lots of positive stuff about it, nothing negative. Easy install, minimal wiring. Youtube videos and some other forums indicate it's pretty fool proof and works well.

I'm considering using this on the Monte.

There are several people on another board I frequent with these installed. Looks to be working for them. I am waiting on a few more reviews before I pull the trigger on the only carbed driver I have left...

Yeah, as it's very affordable AND US made, I think this thing is gonna be very popular.

Tuning a carb on a camed car can be a bitch. Perfect today, way off tomorrow.

Two of those on a dual-quad intake with twin-turbo would be pretty neat to see.

I just received my FiTech EFI for the '71 GMC. Will be installing in the next month or two as soon as I relocate the fuel tank to under the bed. These seem to get great reviews for the money.

Few reviews going on over at the Team Chevelle forums....looks to be a decent system. We are hoping to get one in here for a customers build soon to check it out.

Any news on this setup from anyone? I just stumbled across the FiTech stuff a couple weeks ago. I haven't come across any negative feedback on the Internet, looks very promising... I'm very tempted to pick up the 600 hp version for my 6.0.

I have come across an issue, perhaps it's just me.

The 600 HP system offers ignition timing control. The Mean Street 800 HP system does NOT. Of course the 1,200 HP system does.

My engine is right at 600 HP. BUT I'm considering a future cam swap and more modern/better heads, which puts the engine just over 700 HP.

I want the Mean Streets 800 HP system WITH ignition timing control.

I'm going to be installing a mean street 800hp system on a friend's malibu with a 600+hp gen 1 sbc this spring, along with their surge tank fuel system. It's not available to the public yet but he's got it pre-ordered. I'll post up my impressions of it.

Well, I sent a detailed email about getting the 800 HP system with timing control and they ain't budging.

Looks like I'll need to step up to their 1,200 HP system.

Can the FiTech even do timing control on LSx style individual coils? I am under the impression that you would need something like an MSD 6010/6012 box for the ignition on LSx engines? Gen I/II timing control shouldn't be an issue from the looks of it.

No, the FiTech timing control is only for an old school single coil system with a distributor.

For an LS engine, you'll need an aftermarket stand alone CNP ignition system that has a controller and works off cam & crank sensor inputs.

You'll need to provide the FiTech system a tach signal. The MSD stand alone LS ignitions provide tach signal on the yellow wire.

Just to detail it:

The 600HP systems have timing control. The $100 more 800HP system does not have timing control. I'm right at 600HP so I want the 800HP system-but I also need the timing control so I'll need to step up to the 1,200HP system that's a bunch more money. I've have a few emails with them, they will NOT swap in the computer from the 1,200HP system to the 800HP system.

I don't understand why they won't offer timing control with the 800HP system.

Looks like I'll need to spend the bucks.

Other than this, these systems look pretty awesome.
