testing fuel pump and pressure

Hi - I have just recently completed a fuel system for LS3 an installation into an early model Holden Commodore. I am allowing for higher HP capability in the future and hence have run -8 line from the Aeromotive 13301 regulator mounted near the tank (with a return line) which has Walbro pump. I have also included a fuel pressure gauge.

Question is - can I safely test the fuel pressure without the engine running (ie I plan to simply manually hook up power to the pump)?

Yeah you can do that. It will just pressurize the system and you can check for leaks.
