Default Corvette Fuel Pressure regulator

Hi guys,

I have a external corvette fuel pressure regulator with a Tanks Inc in tank fuel pump, Walbro 255lph. When the pump primes it only registers 50psi, but when running goes to 58psi. It struggles to start first go and second time fires if you keep the gas in to it, once it's running and idling you can switch it off and it will fire up again next time perfectly. Making me think its a fuel pressure issue. So my question is should it be priming at 58-60 psi rather than 50?

New Injectors, and pretty sure the check valve on the pump is fine as it holds pressure when turned off for 10-15mins (slow bleed off of pressure over this time)
Thanks, Dave.

Maybe it's just been damaged or a dud. Sat around for a couple years before being installed.

How is your fuel pump wired? When the engine is not running the pump only gets battery voltage, but that should still be enough to get you the 58psi for prime.
