Default Injector spray pattern issues

So I recently had an engine failure, torched a head, and the piston looks detonated to crap. But the other 7 look perfect. I took the injectors and had them cleaned and flow tested. I marked the injector from the cylinder that failed and had them keep specific notes on it. The other 7 passed great, the one from the bad hole, flowed the correct amount of fluid, but the spray pattern was erratic and moving all over they said. Does anyone have a say one way or another if this could have caused the failure?

Poor atomization could lead to a lean cylinder. Just my opinion.
Was this Na or nitrous/FI ?
