simple fuel regulator question

simple fuel regulator question when I remove the factory regulator from the pump assembly do I need to plug anything up or just take it out and leave it
I will be using an adjustable unit under the hood..
also what is a preferred brand to use?? I am leaning towards Aeromotive since thats what the fuel pump is or should I consider a Fuel Lab or Magnafuel unit?
