Bosch 044 check valve ??? been doing a lot of reading but cant decide...Do I need to retain the check valve/ residual pressure valve that came with the pump The pump is gravity fed via an AN8 from a pre filter..Its located right in front of the tank From there it travels along the chassis to a bulkhead mounted Wix filter regulator..Motor is a 500hp LS2

044 = cis The "044" pump was first used, created, for use with the CIS non-electrical injection system, CIS = Constant Injection System.
I have removed this fitting, replace it with an AN-816 steel adapter.
My first reason is to increase pump flow.
I ALWAYS fit a Wix filter BEFORE the pump as the pump inlet screen will often clog.
This pre-filter is very large, used in filling station lines at the gas pump.
This LARGE filter has the effect of a fuel reservoir by design needed to stop pump cavitation.
