Fuel pump or regulator?
I began suspecting maybe a bad fuel pump...when I bought the car 3 years ago it was running lean and we changed the fuel filter and it cleared everything up and was making good fuel pressure according to my mechanic after the swap.
Fast forward to today - I went out and rented a fuel pressure test kit and here is what I found.
- Car sat overnight and first key on bump to on but engine off, I only got 20psi
- Key off, back to key on but engine still off I got 49-50psi
- I start the car and I got about 52 psi at idle and steady...I let her warm up a few minutes before I give her a few revs.
- I rev the car up and I drop as low as 50psi just on a quick rev in park. (Video below)
- I took the car for a spin with it taped on the windshield and just kind of rolled into a few 70-80% throttle hits only up to about 4500rpm and I was seeing the fuel pressure dip to about 49ish each time I kinda rolled the throttle.
Shut the car off and put it back to key on engine off...it went back to about 50psi but every 2-4 minutes I would drop 1psi on the gauge even though I was key on engine off.
Then I started it again, and went for a ride, came back and let it sit for 10 minutes. Went to key on only and it was 50psi...started it and it slowly slowly slowly crept up to 53-54psi at idle but took about 15 seconds or so to lazily climb up.
Camaro has 100k on it, bolt on only...Is there a way to tell if this is regulator only or pump or both? Or could it be something separate?
