Default Budget fuel tank options for 69 Nova

I am doing another build @ my home shop with a buddy and he wants to retain his stock fuel tank and filler neck.

Is the most budget way welding a sump onto the stock tank and adding an inline pump setup ? AEM 380glph is what I used on my other Nova very sucessfully.

The tanks inc looks expensive. The other option is some sort of universal efi in tank conversion kit? Anyone know of anything out there close that we could modify to work.

Trying to do it the cheapest/cleanest way possible

Depends on what you want.

For a mild build, I use the stock pickup and plumb it to an inline Walbro 255. It will still fuel starve around 1/8 tank and won't be able to fully utilize the flow of the 255, but for builds with 400 or less at the crank, it works fine.

Otherwise, look at the sumps that diesel guys use. They're less than $100. You drill a hole in the bottom of the tank, and its a 2 piece sump with an O-ring that sandwiches against the bottom of the tank with a fitting to attach your fuel line in it. Use an air drill and you can do it without ever dropping the tank or welding.

It will be turbo. I saw those diesel sumps online. That might be the ticket we need.

Thank you!!

You can buy a new tank from rock auto for about $130 plus shipping. If you're confident in your welding ability you can cut the top open and install a fuel baffle and weld it back up. Or weld in a sump and baffle on the bottom.

What about the $350 spectra tank
Or I’d weld a sump like I did, but my mig welder crapped out on my welding a bung.
When do any of you think the diesel sump would pose a problem on low fuel?
