5.3 Swap External Fuel Pump Hey everyone, first LS swap, I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Conversions&Hybrids section or here so let me know if this is incorrect. Swapping 2000 5.3 with return system into 1950 ford f1 pickup. Planning to use a regular (non in tank pump) tank under the bed and use an external pump and filter. A few basic questions:
These 5.3's are regulated at the fuel rails, so I need to run a full return line back to the tank, correct? it seems like most external pump kits come with a vette regulator that i wouldnt be able to use. and as far as filtering goes, can I just use a universal inline filter after the pump?
The truck came with a new tank so this is why I'm going this route. Otherwise i would try to swap to a different tank with an in tank pump system that has the provisions for a return line. I have the full donor Tahoe, and was possibly thinking of using the stock fuel pump and basket system in an aftermarket tank but I cannot find any that accept the GM "drop and twist in" OEM pump system. Any feedback is much appreciated!

thanks sounds good. as far as a return line, is at as simple as just tapping a fitting into the top of the tank and running fuel line from the rail return to the fitting?
edit: now that i think about it i can probably get a pick up tube assembly that has the return fitting as part of it too
