Help Pinging?!

Help Pinging?! Okay I know this is going to sound stupid but im not sure if my car is pinging or not because ive only had 1 other car before I got my SS. Whats happening is that in 6th gear when im around 1500-1800 rpm on the freeway I hear a clicking sound when the throttle is hit a little (and when i say little I mean 1/4 or more the way down, nothing near WOT) but after 2000 rpm it goes away. Im not sure if its just too hard of a load on the car or if just the timing could be off. I know its not piston slap because I know what that sounds like and it doesnt happen on start-up or does it click in anyother gears (knock on wood) but was wondering if just a simple tune up would fix this or maybe while im at it to get it dyno tuned. I havent done anything to the car (well really) so i cant figure whats wrong, if anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey thanks so far for the replies. Ill make sure i check out the exhuast but i dont have headers or any different setup than stock on my car and im nearly positive its not the rearend because it was just checked by my mechanic just a week or so ago and I know the sound is primarily coming from the engine. thanks for the info guys you prob saved me a butt load of money and its good to hear that im not the only one who has had this problem.
