In the instructions for the Racetronix FPA-001B, it says use fence pliers to install hose # 27. I'm not sure what they are and are they necessary ? Can I just use a hose clamp instead ?
You can also use tile knippers or otiker clamp pliers or carefully use a pair of side cutters. If you use side cutters make sure you crimp it from each side.

The Oetiker clamp is a one-time only clamp. You only get one chance to install it. So use the correct tool to clamp it down. An Oetiker tool works best because it allow you to pinch the clamp from the side or from the top.
The Oetiker clamp is metric size also and not as easily sourced as standard size. None of the standard sized Oetiker clamps at Advance Auto for example will fit as they will not clamp tight enough. The clamp is also hard to remove as well. I found a Dremel cut-off works best.
