Injector question
Hi guys!
New to the V8 world, I picked up an 04 gto ls1 to swap into my 1987 BMW 325, got the car started the other night and it has a slight hesitation at low rpm without load, and I believe I inadvertently caused this.
I had some brand new 30lb bosch ev1 injectors laying around and the engine was missing the factory injectors. I checked, they seemed to be 28~lb, so I figured the 30lb should work fine.
I just learned that the ls1 injectors run at 58psi instead of 43psi, making these effectively 36lb injectors. Probably where the hesitation is coming from, so I would love some advice:
Would a small cam be enough to utilize the injectors? I have:
A large 4" intake/filter
1 7/8ths to 3" merge headers
dual3" oval tubing exhaust,
So the engine has those supporting mods already. The car has a 255lph pump, so no big deal there.
Can I just get the ECU retuned to change the parameter of the flow? could I drive the car before then?
If a cam would be advised, suggestions for the most affordable (not hacked cheap) setup would be appreciated. I see the ls9 kit comes in at under 400, which would be great. I do not want to pull the oil pan, as I would have to pull the engine again to do so. That was a big pain in the *** getting it in.
