Fuel system issues.
I have a 98 LS1 trans am. Bought the car used about 11 years ago and it was a reliable daily driver for several years. Only aftermarket add on is SLP exhaust, from the resonator back, which was installed on the car by a previous owner. The car has been sitting since late 2015, and ran fine when it was parked. My wife and I have recently talked about getting it back out and I’ve run into what I believe is some type of fuel issue and I need some guidance as I’m not as well versed on fuel injected systems. The First thing I did was add new 93 octane fuel, as well as some octane boost. New fuel filter was added as well. I’m getting plenty of pressure at the fuel rails, and the car turns over just fine. However; on most tries the car will simply turn over a time or two, attempt to fire and stall. If I then allow the car to sit for a couple minutes and turn it over again the car fires right up and runs for 1-2 seconds then stalls. Also when it does start, I noticed the tach does not register anything. I’ve read a few threads about cam positioning sensors, and crank position sensors possibly being the culprit. Any other suggestions?
