OK, I've done some searching, and haven't found an answer to my exact question...
Do all of the GM Flexfuel sensors work the same? I've seen various models ranging in price from around $35-350!
Some appear to have mounting holes molded in, and some need a mounting bracket.
Can I just pick one that meets my mounting/budget needs and go from there?
If not, how can I identify which ones can be used with my '03 Silverado LQ4 PCM?
I'm making my own harness, so I can add/modify wiring as needed.
I believe so, but I didn't know enough about it when I stripped the donor to look for the sensor, about 5 years ago. I know you can swap sections of the PCM software to make it work, but I won't be doing the tuning. I have a friend for that.
Jay, yeah your actually better off running a newer Continental than the older style like on the 03 Silverado. The older truck ones were cast aluminum. They hung them at the lowest point of the fuel system. In short order, in the colder states selling E or in some cases, just fuel, had enough water collect in those sensors that they would actually freeze and crack. In other cases, they would just get stuck "showing E" and causing severely poor fuel mileage.
They all function the same way. I personally try to use a real Continental sensor, but many of the fakes are so close it's near impossible to tell. So far, Sloppy has had good results.
