I have switched the stock pump in a 2005 GMC 1500 to the Walbro450. Works great, fit right in the bucket, but the 18 gauge wire that ran the factory pump is not cutting it. Here is the plan for running a10 gauge hot and ground from the battery. Will the layout below work?
Looks good to me thought you may want to look at the Hot Wire kit # FPWH-017 from Racetronix. I'll have to say its pretty clean and comes complete with everything you need. 10ga. wire is not real handy in a small spool around here and the depot gets close to 2 bucks a ft.to cut it off a large spool. Add that to a relay and you are getting close to the kit price and I'm no fan of racetronics either.
I checked into the kits, but I already have a fused bus bar from a previous project, and two rolls of 10 ga primary wire. I have no idea where the wire came from, but it's here. So only needed the relay.
Yeah, I ran the factory hot and ground to an additional relay, so the orginial relay in the stock fuse box only activates the new heavy duty relay. Then the fused hot from the battery to the feed side (30) on the new relay, and the ground from the battery to the ground on the connector.
