Does engine temperature effect e85 fuel demands?
Anyway, I used to run my 4 stroke air cooled dirtbike on e85, I could never get it dialed in perfectly with the carb. After I rebuilt my engine due to worn piston rings burning oil, I gave up on e85 and switched back to my original jetting that worked fine before on pump gas. Now, it was way too rich. Turns out, as I was trying to tune with the e85, my rings kept burning oil at an increasing rate over time causing the bike to need more fuel to run smoothly. So, e85 might have worked fine with the carb.
However, I have heard from one other person who ran e85 in their 2 stroke, that 10 min into a race, their bike needed more e85 to run smoothly and less as the bike was cooler. His temperatures varied from the type of riding he was doing which varies throughout a race. They had to upgrade to fuel injection in order to fix their issues. However, I'm not sure if this has to do with their bike being a 2 stroke and whether it applies to me as well.
When you guys tune for e85, do you take temperature into account and does it affect your mapping?
