Default Walbro problem ... need advice

I installed the walbro 255 about a couple of days ago. First day, everything seemed fine (didn't even hear whining noise). Today, I try to start the car and it wouldn't fire up. I tried a couple of more times and it finally did. WHat the heck is going on ? Then when i finally do get to start, it whines like a **** during my drive.

The only thing that I did different was park the car on a little incline. WHy would that screw things up.

Any ideas ... suggestions ?

Try pulling it back out and see if any of the hoses slipped off or maybe busted.

update ... I took the pump out again. The gas had dissolved the electrical tape that was used to ensure water-tight connection. So it was a bit dirty as well as the filter. I remade the connection and cleaned it up.

It's better now but still ... have you guys noticed it takes just a bit longer for the car to start with the new pump ? Maybe one more turn than normal. It just feels like I hold the key for half a second longer than with the stock pump.

Do you guys think that if I lowered the pump more out of the plastic into the tank ... that would help.

thanks

Don't use tape or heat shrink on the connections.

You can use teflon heat shrink if you can find it.

My car broke down today

Lost fuel pressure ... fuel tube tore apart ... electrical connection separated and the bare wires got fuel on them ... tape is floating around in my gas tank ... life is bad this week

If I do get it fixed ... why not use heat shrink ?

Heat shrink will melt in gas....electrical tape will melt in gas....You need to redo your install with crimp electrical connectors and make sure the fuel hose, etc is properly installed.
