Default Fuel pump maybe??

I have a 98 trans am. The other day i put about 10 gallons of fuel in it. Once i drove off i could smell gas pretty heavily. Drove for around an hour and was at a stoplight and went to take off and it wouldnt go. It was sputtering so bad like it was starving for fuel. Got it pushed to side of road and let it sit for few mins and started it back up. Idled fine for few mins then went to crap again. Once i got it home i started it again and did same thing, ran fine for few mins then started to sputter. Left it parked for few days then started it to move it and it ran fine for the few mins i had it running. I didnt let it get to warm though. Could this be a failing fuel pump? There was no sign of leaking gas anywhere also.
