Fuel Pump Question
Finally, I was going to just drop $300 and get the GM or Delphi OEM replacement pump since this is just my fun DD car that is basically stock, but are there any other drop-in replacements that may be better? I'm going to cut the access hole in the hatch because this is a 22 year old car that I'm going to drive until it dies, so I just want a simple replacement. Thanks!
The WS6 Store kit is very nice plug & play hot wire better than stock in my opinion. IIRC it's also E85 rated.
Regarding fuel pumps, when was the fuel filter replaced last? Wife's car lost power etc once upon a time and even stalled etc. It was a clogged fuel filter.
Had the stock LS1 fuel pump replaced in my 99 T/A at ~150,000 miles. It still worked fine but with miles I didn't trust it on long trips after ~16 years. Used the WS6 Store Racetronix hotwire fuel pump kit. The fuel pump on my 02 Z28 also has ~150,000+ miles on it. Will use another WS6 Store Racetronix hotwire fuel pump kit for the 02 Z28.
I wouldn't pay any attention to any sort of "app" for this, if you want to check pump output I would connect a fuel pressure gauge, tape it to the windshield and see what your pressure is under WOT (should be 58-60psi for a strong pump).
If the car is going to stay stock and you want maximum reliability/longevity in a replacement pump, I would get a Delphi replacement. Delphi was the original manufacturer. No need for any upgrade if you don't plan to add any significant power.
