Converting fuel tank to external
Another problem is that I am using an 8.8 Ford rear with a 4 link which will hit the plastic tank. Has anyone rearranged the sheet metal with the tank brackets, and moved the tank back 6" ?
Another question---there are two fittings on top of the tank. One is white with a tube and the other is black with a tube that goes to the black canister. Can these tubes be blocked off and can I remove the canister? Mostly a drag car. Original engine/trans will not be used along with any of the PCM/body control wiring. I just don't want to smell gas all of the time or have a pressure problem. Thanks!
I will clean up the edges, tack weld it in and make a filler for the top. Then I can make a couple of brackets for the front mounts (where the tank strap bolts in).
8.8
Cut lines taped off
Cut out complete. One more cut to remove the 6"
It's a big hole
Where it will be located. Just made the T top storage 6" smaller
Now I don't have to buy a new fuel tank
I welded nuts on the two little straps. They slide into the channels above the tank, and I bolted the brackets to them.
