I’m getting a P0440 and after checking the purge valve and lines going back I found this at the tank? Is this suppose to be open?

 

I doubt it. See if you can trace it back somewhere.

 

I can’t find where it goes down but I can shake it and it moves the center line on the fuel pump which is evap but I can’t tell if it goes to a canister from the pump and then drops down.

 

I would look for an evap schematic which should show where it goes.

 

What I’m finding it’s open. It crosses the line I’m shaking that’s why it’s moving. I’m going to hope whoever cut the trap door to put the eBay fuel pump in left the o ring. It has a strong raw fuel smell inside the car but nothing wrong I can get access to if that line is suppose to be open. Car has 6,800 miles on it.
