Default Throttle Boddy replacement

I am rebuilding my LS1 with better heads and cam and i am thinking about changing my throttle body. I was thinking about sending out me current one to have it rebuilt and i think the Jegs 92 might be less money in the long run. Any thoughts on this part

That would need an aftermarket Intake Manifold to really benefit from it.

Where would you send your current one to have it "rebuilt"... just wondering. Never heard that one in the almost 20 years I've been messing with these.

i was looking at services that included porting and I was going to contact some and see if they would go through it. I was also looking at the speedmaster 85mm its $179

Porting is not "rebuilt".. why I was wondering.

Calculate your CFM with the Heads, Cam, and Intake on the LS1 with whatever you decide and the displacement it is. Most of them bigger Throttle Bodies are not needed. Bigger is not always better.

The heads are PRC 225cc with the stock ls6 intake 228/232 cam I was just thinking if I could keep it under $200 that I would replace it. Maybe the 85mm would not be to big?
thanks for your help!!

The 78mm TB is plenty for a stock and even lightly modified LS1. Going larger gains nothing.
Once an engine is getting enough air, it's dead throttle from there on.

does anyone know of a 3 bolt throttle body that is under $200 and is good quality. I see lots of them on Amazon and Ebay but that is scary. Also if there is a good way to clean up my old one with out hurting it. I would think that most solvents would not be good
Thanks Rich

Pull the IAC, clean it. Take the TPS off, and soak it in whatever you want. Gasoline works.
