Fuel System Install
This all started last summer when I was changing the fluid in my MWC 9" and noticed that one of the pipes on my Duals had melted the tank. Now I have been very good about making sure the stainless wasn't moving too much, and at last check a few months prior still had plenty of clearance. Well, this ended the driving season, and was the start of the new rabbit hole.
Well, if I have to drop the tank to replace it, that means it's time to upgrade. My future plans are a 416-440 size engine, with a goal of 600 whp, so I wanted to make sure I was covered for that. I decided to get with @WS6store.com @tech@WS6store to get things rolling. I went with their premade 340lph pump with new harness, and initially their C5 filter and regulator setup. Of course after reading about that filter/regulators limitations, I decided to do my own thing for better pressure control.
I decided to keep the filter and regulator in the rear of the car, in part because I'm new to fuel system work and am afraid of fire, and also for the sake of simplicity. As you can see, I have two options here. Both setups fit almost the same, but again for the sake of simplicity, I decided to go with the fixed 58 psi regulator from @Racetronix , using the stock filter option. I used their PTFE fuel line and fittings as well. Crazy awesome assortment! With no boost plans I have no need to adjust it or provide a boost reference. In the future I can easily remove this setup and extend the lines into the engine bay if necessary.
I also took this opportunity to upgrade a few other things. I have another thread here outlining my stereo upgrade, well between that and this pumps need for power, I upgraded the alternator with a Tuff Stuff 180 amp unit from @Summitracing and all main power and grounds with a kit from Hawks, in addition to the new harness for the pump itself
I was also experiencing PTSD from the exhaust fitment, so away from duals I go. Went to Kooks 1 7/8 headers and Kooks Green Cats from @Sales@Tick , and a Corsa cat back from @Summitracing .
For injectors I reached out to Greg Banish and Fuel Injector Connection @FICINJECTORS and landed on a set of FIC 550cc beauties. I love that they come with all the data I'll need.
It's time for me to head to work, so I'll stop yapping. Here's a dump of more photos I took through the process
Quick edit to also express my thanks to Texas Speed for the awesome MAF housing and sensor!
