Default Fuel pump replacement

I got a new fuel pump assembly for my 1998 Pontiac firebird trans am, and I was looking for help because there is a line on the assembly that doesn’t connect to anything or well idk what it does connect to
The line that bends to the side. Idk if this is a return line or something else but I do know there is no line in the tank and if there should be.

Looks like you may have gotten a V6 pump. I remember something similar happening to another member in the past, same issue with having an extra line that didn't connect to anything. He had somehow gotten the wrong (V6 version) pump.

The correct pump for your application is Delphi #HP10038. Not sure on the part number for any other brand. Here is a link (with pictures) of what you need:
