Default How does fuel feed/return work on 2002 LS1?

On a 2002 LS1 FBody, how exactly does fuel management work? Is it a single line or two line (feed/return) system?

I am thinking about swapping a LS1 into a Chevelle and I am confused as to whether one or two fel lines will be needed.

I read some articles, they added a line. But other articles say the return is controlled by the fuel pump???

Thanks,
J

The two lines you see coming up are the supply line and the evap line. LS1 F-Bodies use a returnless system. If you look at the lines close to the rear drivers side rear wheel you'll see a T-Block on the supply line. I forget the exact sizes off the top of my head, but they'll be two larger lines on the horizontal arms of the T and those are your supply line. The single smaller line coming perpendicularly off the supply line is your return line. that runs back into the tank and at the end of that return line sits your Fuel Pressure Reg. The pump does not control the return line.

I did what a lot of other people do. I added a braided line that became my new supply line. I then used the old supply line as the return line. I removed the FPR from the tank and installed a boost reference FPR in the engine bay for better FP response.

Ok, I think I get it. So they 'T' the fuel line at the rear. Larger continues on up front for use, and the smaller line feeds in the fuel pressure reg.

Fuel pressure reg then holds back volume to increase pressure but releases (bleeds off excess fuel) back into the tank as the return... correct?

thanks
