Default Fuel Pressure- Needs to be 58psi?

If running a standalone computer system and a custom fuel system- is there a need to run the fuel system at 58psi (a relatively high number)?

Is there any reason why it can't be run at say 40 psi, assuming the injectors are properly sized?

Thanks
Ben

provided you can supply the needed fuel, you can run a lower pressure.

As long as you have the tuning setup then you can run lower pressure, I'm guessing this is so you can run a boost referenced regulator and increase the pressure by 1psi for every 1lb of boost? Either way you don't have to run 58 with tuning.

I'm actually putting an LS1 in an RX7 and I'm going to run a return fuel setup so I need a regulator in there. It'll be easier on the fuel pump if I run a lower fuel pressure and I was just making sure there was nothing magic about the 58 psi number.

Thanks again
Ben

if you regulate the fuel pressure to stay constant all the time just lower then all you have to do is modify your IFR table to adjust for that change.

I'm not running the stock PCM or fuel system.

Gotcha, then the answer to your question is NO you don't need to run 58psi as long as you know what your doing when you tune it.
