Will a 2001 fuel pump work in a 1998?

Will a 2001 fuel pump work in a 1998? My dad blew his fuel pump in his 1998 LS1 and I got a free working fuel pump from a 2001 and was wondering if it would work. I only ask because of this one thing sticking out of the 01 pump and I'm not sure if I can still use it. If not I have a granatelli, but I'd like to return it if at all possible and use the freebie since the car is stock and not going to be upgraded any time soon.
