Default Remove Rear end to remove Tank?

Why do you have to remove the rear end to remove the fuel tank. I was under my car last night looking at the fuel take, and I don't understand why you have to remove the rear end to get the tank out.

If you can remove your muffler, the fuel tank is easy as cake to get out.

Take off heat shield, unbolt straps that hold fuel tank, unplug fuel lines, remove panhard stuff, and drop her down...

I didnt mention EVERYTHING, but its self explanitory when you are under there...

btw the access hatch is nice because if you ever need to get in there for maintenance it makes it so easy. If you are just doing a fuel pump then IMO you should do the hatch.

If you have to remove the tank, like I said above...
I had to remove my tank when I did my cage recently so I didnt hurt anything while welding...

I have true duals dumped before the axle so I don't have any exhaust in the way.

You can remove it without any problems. There are 2 screws by the gas cap, one bolt midway down the filler neck holding it to the body and then the 2 straps holding the tank up. All you have to do is remove the panhard rod, and let the rear hang down as far as it will go (you don't have to unbolt the LCAs, torque arm or driveshaft), and then slide the tank out.

Now, the metal tank is a bit more difficult because the filler neck is not flexible, but it can be done.
