Fuel Pump getting noisy?!?
At first I though it was a speaker, but I turn the key to 'acc' and turn the radio on, no sound, leave the car running and turn the power off to the radio, the sound is there. Then I was think maybe exhaust. So I tried blipping the throttle a little while I was sitting still to see if the noise changed any, idtdidn't, still the same hum/whistle. So I figure it probably not any sort of exhaust leak. Someone mentioned gears, but it does it if I'm in Neutral sitting still, and I just changed the read end fluid and LSD additive about 8,000 miles ago.
My car is a 2000 Formula pushing right at 71,000 miles. Does these seem to be about the time I should be checking on the fuel pump? Is there any way to test the fuel pump? If I do have to change it, should I be able to do it myself (I've heard you have to drop the tank, which I think I can pull off with a couple buddies)? and if not how much will it cost?
Thanks for any help, it will be much appreciated
