Default Are stock injectors enough?

I recently bought a '98 Trans Am w/ the mods: Stage 2 heads/cam/headers/etc etc. rwph ~ 400

I also have a NX 150 shot (wet kit). possible rwhp ~ 550

The previous owner states that the injectors are stock (28.8#).

I feel comfortable w/ the stock injectors as long as I don't use the nitrous.

Does anyone think I should upgrade the injectors to maximize the nitrous? Is there any danger to the motor if I use the nitrous and don't upgrade the injectors?

DEFFITINLY upgrade the fuel injectors when using nitrous! I'd get 42lbs injectors. Also you better be planning on a bigger fuel pump as well.

EDIT: And if the injectors are stock, and the car is a 98, then the injectors are only 24lbs I think? They aren't 28lbs, those were only used on the 01-02's.

an upgrade wouldnt be a bad idea, but you should actually be ok if tuned properly because it is a wet kit you are using. i would actually be more worried about the rest of your fuel system. you will definetly need another pump inline or a replacement intank to handle that power, if you already dont have one.

So, if I leave it as is, am I taking a chance on hurting the motor or will I simply not be using the motor to its full potential.....

(I plan on upgrading anyway, I'm just waiting for the cash..... )

You could potentially hurt the motor w/ the no2, since it could lean w/o enough fuel delivery due to stock fuel pump. You definately need an additional inline pump, or a bigger volume pump in the tank.

98, 01-02 have 28 lb injectors. 99-00 have the 26 lb injectors.

You may have just saved me lots of $$$$

I'll sheck into the inline pump and possibly some 42# injectors. Better to be safe than sorry

Your injectors are perfecty fine. But like the other guys stated, I'd recommend a larger fuel pump.

Whoever said 42# don't listen to them. As stated, 98's came with 28# injectors, upgrading the a little won't hurt, fuel pump would be a good idea

Also, regarding the nitrous, a wet shot has no effect at all on your injectors other than you would need an upgraded fuel pump to help supply both the injectors and the fuel demanded by the nitrous.

I definately would not run the nitrous as it is, the fuel demand will cause the fuel pressure to drop, resulting in a possible lean condition and damage to the engine.

You should be fine on motor, stock fuel pump should be fine till you get close to 500rw, your inj should be fine to around 425-450ish
